3rd Kilsyth racks up 10km

Junior Section members from 3rd Kilsyth walked 10km during their recent 'Farm to Fork' project.
This is a great example of combining your existing programme with the national challenge. Well done!

Canal walk for 12th Inverness

Members of 12th Inverness covered a superb 20km along the Caledonian Canal last week.
Well done braving the winter weather and getting involved!

Colossal distance achieved by 4th East Kilbride

The young people and leaders of 4th East Kilbride travelled 267 laps of the James Hamilton Heritage Loch totalling an outstanding 317km!

15th Coatbridge includes BB birthplace on their 18Km

Company members and leaders included a visit to the Woodside Mission Halls on their walk from Glasgow back to Coatbridge covering a very impressive 18Km - well done!

Airdrie & Coatbridge add 9Km to the national total!



 An incredible 470 BB youngsters from local companies ran round Drumpelier Loch.  This sponsored events allowed companies to raise money for special events later in the session.  Airdrionians FC's Brian Prunty set the boys off on their loch-side route.  The combined distance covered on the day was an incredible 1244km!!   Stewart Bone from the Battalion commented afterwards: "It was a beautiful morning and as you can see was well attended and enjoyed by many of our Officers, boys and helpers plus a great number of parents who participated with their boys "This event would not been feasible without the great organisation of Jim Elliot and his team, we are all greatly indebted to them."

1st Dunbar tackles the John Muir Way!

Company Section members from 1st Dunbar walked the Dunbar to North Berwick section of the John Muir Way today, a fantastic distance of 24 km! 

To the hills for 51st Edinburgh (Bonnyrigg)

Members of the Bonnyrigg company used their time at Innerwick Outdoor Education centre and the surrounding area in East Lothian to make an impressive contribution to the national challenge.
In total, the young people covered a super 28km!

Scott Leslie, Leader within the 51st Bonnyrigg Boys Brigade said:
"The group of boys and leaders had an excellent weekend of activities including the walk, took part in swimming, football, indoor competitions including table tennis, jenga, quizzes, cooking and their own'boys with a reasonably priced car xbox'!Everyone was good company and it may for a great fun
weekend."

Strathkelvin YLN group pull together to circle island 25 times!

Using what can only be described as a 'bike with a difference', seniors and young leaders from Strathkelvin's YLN covered an amazing 300km by circumnavigating Isle of Cumbrae 25 times!!   Apparently the group were treated to local delicacies of ice-cream and fish suppers afterwards...  What an effort!

3rd Falkirk bags 131Km!!

Incredible efforts from members of the 3rd Falkirk Company saw them notch up this superb distance. They used practice and qualifying DofE Silver Expeditions in the Trossachs, as well as a recent climb of Ben Lomond for their substantial contribution to the national challenge.  In each of their ventures into Scotland's outdoors, the group faced some testing weather, so a particular well done to everyone involved!  Visit the company's website for more information.

Group from 1st Kilbirnie & 1st Saltcoats hit heights above capital!

Well done to group from 1st Kilbirnie & 1st Saltcoats who covered a total distance of 10km to top Arthur's Seat (twice!).  One member of the team enjoyed it so much, he returned the next week to try it again.  Superb effort from these guys!

25th Stirling (Dunblane) cover 15km in the Ochils and 121km on expedition!

Company Section (P7-S3) boys from Dunblane ate up a huge chunk of their 1000km challenge by taking part in a sponsored walk from Dollar to Glendevon and back, covering 15km each. The Dunblane group, which also provides Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels for its S4-S6 boys, has covered a great deal more through the related expeditions, a recent treasure hunt for Junior Section boys and one amazing individual cyclist, Liam McGregor, who covered the distance from Thurso to Glasgow in his own BB sponsored cycle during the summer. 

184th Glasgow takes to the hills to cover 10km

Members of 184th Glasgow used the tracks at Mugdock Country park and also the West Highland Way to cover a total of 10km.  Brilliant work!

4th Carluke covers 42.2km!

4th Carluke used a combination of their 'Walk your Age' challenge in the local John Cummin Stadium and also a DofE Bronze exhibition in the Trossachs.  A fantastic effort and distance - well done to them!

13th Hamilton

Fantastic work from 13th Hamilton who topped Ben Vorlich in the Trossachs as part of the 1,000km Challenge.  They hiked a total of 15km - well done!
